Interest among Los Angeles Lakers and NBA fans seems to be unending when it comes to the condition of LeBron James and Anthony Davis. General Manager Rob Pelinka recently provided an update on the health status of the team’s two key players.
“We have faith in the progress they are making during this period and in the medical care they are receiving,” Pelinka shared during the halftime break of the Lakers’ summer league game against the Hornets last Sunday. “Encouraging reports have been circulating regarding the recovery of both LeBron and AD, signifying that they are poised to overcome these hurdles.”
Davis endured a stress fracture in his right foot last December, leading to him missing 19 games. Despite this setback, he managed to stay in shape upon his return and until the end of the season.
LeBron also suffered an injury to his right foot, causing him to sit out for a month towards the end of the regular season. Reportedly, he sustained a tendon tear in that foot. During the playoffs, spectators noted that LeBron was not at his peak performance, often resorting to jump shots instead of his usual aggressive drives to the basket. He has hinted at the possibility of undergoing foot surgery during the offseason.
After the Lakers’ defeat by the Nuggets in the Western Conference Finals, LeBron surprisingly mentioned retirement as a potential option. However, recent signs strongly indicate that the King will return for his 21st season.
The Lakers had a successful free agency period, with key re-signings like Austin Reaves, D’Angelo Russell, and Rui Hachimura. They also added to their roster with new acquisitions such as Gabe Vincent, Tauren Prince, and Jaxson Hayes.
