The team from Phoenix has made an impressive start to the Western Conference semifinals, scoring an average of 97 points in the initial two face-offs against the Denver Nuggets. After an outstanding average of 122 points per game in the previous series with the Los Angeles Clippers, Phoenix has heavily counted on stellar performances from Devin Booker and Kevin Durant, who have contributed 59.2% of the team’s total points against the top-seeded Nuggets.
However, this has also put pressure on the bench players of the Suns to step up their game as Chris Paul is expected to be sidelined for the next couple of games due to a strained left groin suffered during the Game 2 loss. In light of this, head coach Monty Williams is looking towards players like Terrence Ross and T.J. Warren to provide offensive support from the reserves.
“I can modify the usage of more scoring options on the court and acknowledge any shortcomings that may come with it just to offer more breathing room to those players, ensuring they are not burdened with scoring on every attacking play,” remarked Williams after the practice session on Wednesday. “We will adapt our game plan accordingly.”
