The Washington Wizards have officially inked guard Jared Butler to a two-way agreement.
Butler, standing at 6-3 and weighing 195 pounds, boasts experience from 48 NBA matchups (including two initial appearances) split between the Oklahoma City Thunder (2022-23) and Utah Jazz (2021-22). Across these contests, he has maintained averages of 4.1 points and 1.5 assists per 9.1 minutes played.
During the previous season, Butler competed in six matches for the Thunder, initiating play in one. He achieved an average of 6.2 points and 1.3 assists per game while shooting .469 from the field and .500 from beyond the arc. Beyond his NBA ventures, he also competitively participated in 27 games (all as a starter) with the Grand Rapids Gold and Oklahoma City Blue of the NBA G League throughout the 2022-23 campaign, registering impressive stats of 16.7 points, 6.3 assists, and 3.3 rebounds per game.
Butler entered the NBA scene when the Utah Jazz selected him as the 40th overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft. In his tenure with the Jazz during the 2021-22 season, he played in 42 games (including one start), recording averages of 3.8 points and 1.5 assists per game. Furthermore, he contributed to three games for the Salt Lake City Stars, the Jazz’s NBA G League affiliate, showcasing averages of 18.3 points and 6.0 assists. Prior to his professional career, Butler made history by being named the first consensus All-America First Team selection from Baylor University, leading the Bears to claim the 2021 NCAA National Championship.
