Admirers of the Kings have been given concerning news – their on-court leader, De’Aaron Fox, has encountered a fracture on the index finger of his left hand. According to The Athletic’s Shams Charania, there is uncertainty about Fox’s availability for the upcoming Game 5 against Golden State scheduled for Tuesday. The injury occurred during the final period of Game 4 on Sunday, as Charania reported. A video on Twitter by Anthony Slater from The Athletic shows a moment where Fox’s finger appeared to have been inadvertently hit by Kevon Looney while he was casually attempting a layup after a foul was called on Jordan Poole.
Despite the Kings listing Fox as doubtful, they remain hopeful that their standout guard will be able to participate despite the finger fracture. Fox, who served as the leading scorer for Sacramento in the regular season, has averaged 31.5 points, 6 rebounds, 7.0 assists, and 2.5 steals with a shooting efficiency of .447/.342/.700 over the first four playoff games (38.5 MPG).
If Fox is unable to take part in the pivotal Game 5, other guards like Davion Mitchell, Kevin Huerter, Malik Monk, and Terence Davis could see increased time on the court. Sadly, Fox is not the only player who has suffered an injury during this post-season; he joins a group that includes Giannis Antetokounmpo, Tyler Herro, Ja Morant, Kawhi Leonard, Joel Embiid, and Victor Oladipo.
