In not a single quarter did Jacksonville beat the Dolphins in Thursday night’s match. Ryan Fitzpatrick accounted for three of Miami’s four touchdowns, breaking the team into a 31-13 final lead over the Jaguars.
Fitzpatrick made a career-high completing all 12 of his first passes whilst simultaneously becoming the first NFL quarterback to win six times against the same opponent with six different teams. Meanwhile, it was a high point for the team as a whole as well, with Miami raking in touchdowns on its first three drives for the first time in almost a decade.
The Dolphins took a substantial lead over Jacksonville in the first quarter, with two touchdowns against the opposition failing to score a single point. The first touchdown was by Preston Williams off a three-yard pass from Fitzpatrick. The second was single-yard run from Jordan Howard.
Jacksonville tried to fight back with a touchdown in the second (Robinson making an eleven-yard dash.) But Miami returned with a touchdown of their own (Mike Gesicki off Fitzpatrick) to level out the quarter. Fitzpatrick made another touchdown in the third, and the Jaguars were looking at a miracle to come back from 21 down and a miracle did not come.
James Robinson made a touchdown in the final quarter but Jacksonville lost a point from a missed kick and Miami followed up with a field goal.
