A 31-year-old former college assistant coach, Chris Brickley who becomes the go-to trainer for NBA superstar D’Angelo Russell, C.J. McCollum and Carmelo Anthony was asked why these NBA guys’ trainer of choice is he, he said that it is not about the drill but the trust and motivation.

The former Knicks assistant coach said, “At the end of the day there’s only so many you can do, right?” He added, “There’s only a number of things these players are going to actually do. The only way a player’s going to listen to you is trust. You need to figure out what motivates them.”

Chris Brickley became a viral sensation via his gym’s All-Star open runs including Carmelo Anthony, Russell Westbrook, Kevin Durant, James Harden, Chris Paul and LeBron James.

But according to Brickley, he is not a basketball trainer, he is a basketball “influencer.” He said earlier, “There’s a million trainers that have NBA guys.” He added, “That’s the reality of it. I don’t feel like I have competition because I don’t think I’m a trainer. These guys look at me as someone who can help them on a day-to-day, help them with basketball, help them with [life].”

There are great chances that you have probably seen one of his video on social media.

“Toward the end of the summer I would have 20-25 NBA guys in a single night asking if they could work out or come to an open run.” Brickley said. “I didn’t expect it to get to the point it got to.”

Brickley gained popularity during the very first week of September, it was Fashion Week in New York. He gained 10,000 followers on his social media channel on which he shared video clips of the game featuring NBA superstar including LeBron James, Chris Paul, James Harden, Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook, Carmelo Anthony and many more.
