According to Darnell Mayberry from The Athletic, there was an exceptional performance by Andre Drummond during Tuesday’s win against Atlanta in his first start for the Bulls, where he collected 24 points and 25 rebounds. Drummond got the opportunity due to an injury to the starting center Nikola Vucevic, and with Vucevic set to sit out for multiple games, the 30-year-old will continue as the starting center for an extended period of time.
Drummond stated, “I see myself as a starter in this league. Despite my current position, I approach it with the utmost dedication.”
Despite realizing that he initially accepted a bench role when he joined Chicago in 2022, his recent performance showcased the skills that led to his selection as a two-time All-Star. Even though he has been averaging only 14.3 minutes per game this season, he played for 39 minutes in the recent game, demonstrating an impressive performance with 10 offensive rebounds, three steals, two blocks, and an 11-of-13 shooting display.
Coach Billy Donovan said, “I am genuinely pleased for him because he demonstrates dedication every day. He prioritizes the team over personal accomplishments, despite deserving more game time.”
while also delivering four assists before scoring his maiden basket. “I find it easier to step into the fourth quarter,” shared DeRozan. “My teammates count on me to finish the game. It’s not just about scoring; it’s about generating opportunities and making the right decisions. It’s gratifying. I never feel the urge to take a specific number of shots in any game. I trust my teammates. And when they indicate, I know it’s time for me to contribute.”
Donovan seeks Dalen Terry to fill in for Torrey Craig as he heals from a plantar fascia strain, as reported by Annie Costabile of The Chicago Sun-Times. The second-year shooting guard had been averaging 18.6 minutes per game in the three games leading up to Tuesday. “He recognizes the need for improvement,” noted Donovan. “But I don’t want him to focus solely on that. Regardless of making or missing shots, he will keep playing. From the early stages when he had the opportunity to play, what impressed me was his enhanced discipline and execution on both ends of the court.”
