Chicago Bulls guard Zach LaVine will be out of commission for a minimum of one week due to discomfort in his right ankle, based on the team’s recent announcement.
LaVine was initially absent from the Bulls’ game on November 22 due to right ankle discomfort, which he later mentioned as a mid-ankle sprain in a press conference. The issue resurfaced during the defeat to Boston on Tuesday, leading to his absence for Thursday’s game against Milwaukee.
It appears that the Bulls intend to grant LaVine ample time to recover and prevent the problem from re-emerging during the season. According to the team’s schedule, he will miss upcoming games against New Orleans (this Saturday) and Charlotte (next Wednesday). The Bulls will then face San Antonio next Friday.
With an average of 21.0 points per game and shooting percentages of .443/.336/.866 in 18 appearances (35.3 MPG) this season, the 28-year-old LaVine has registered his lowest scoring average and field goal percentage since the 2017/18 season.
As one of the NBA’s foremost trade prospects, teams across the league are likely to closely monitor the condition of LaVine’s right ankle in the coming days and weeks.
