Chris Paul is eagerly looking forward to joining the Warriors and playing alongside some of the best veterans in the game. Winning a championship quickly is their top priority.
While Paul has played with some talented stars in the past, he admits that this experience is unlike anything he has ever had.
“I’m excited about Steph, Draymond, Klay, all the different guys, Wigs [Andrew Wiggins],” Paul told ESPN. “I’m excited for us to come together and see how it all looks. It’s amazing how life works. But when it comes to basketball, this is probably the happiest I’ve been. Obviously, I’m happiest when I’m with my family, but basketball has always been my safe haven.”
There is great anticipation to see the impact Paul will have on the team, especially when providing valuable contributions off the bench while Steph Curry is resting.
In addition, Paul’s exceptional ball-handling skills make him a strong asset and he has the potential to team up with Curry and Klay Thompson on the court, creating impressive scoring opportunities with his midrange game.
As for his role on the team, the 18-season veteran is uncertain how it will unfold. However, this doesn’t bother him too much.
“At this point in the summer, I can’t even begin to think about playing for the Warriors until we are all together,” Paul said. “I won’t know my role until we start training camp. Honestly, it will probably be the same as it has always been: to play the game, provide leadership. After so many years of playing, the game hasn’t changed that much. I’m excited to figure it all out.”
