Scott Dixon has ruled the Indycar roost in 2020, and he looked like he was going to be the man to come out on top of the 104th running of the Indianapolis 500 in Sunday’s race that had been delayed nearly three months and was being held without fans for the first time ever. However, despite leading over 100 laps, Dixon had the win taken out of his grasp down the stretch by 2017 winner Takuma Sato.
Sato, the Japanese driver known for hard-charging moves, made the pass on Dixon with just over ten to go and then held on late. A caution came out for a hard crash involving Spencer Pigot with four laps to go, seeing to it that Sato won under the yellow flag, capturing a second Indy 500 at the age of 43. Graham Rahal completed the podium positions.
