Mikaela Shiffrin, the skier from America, fell short of victory behind Petra Vlhova in the giant slalom during the World Championships held in Sweden on Thursday.
In challenging conditions characterized by strong winds, Shiffrin, who had secured a gold medal in Are just a week ago, found herself in fourth position after her initial descent. Despite her efforts, she was unable to bridge the distance between her and the skier from Slovakia. Vlhova secured her inaugural world championship gold by surpassing the leader after the first run, Viktoria Rebensburg from Germany.
The 23-year-old Shiffrin is set on winning her fourth consecutive world title in slalom come Saturday.
