“Our team had abysmal chemistry last season,” revealed Green. “Showing up for work was a struggle. No fun at all.”
“But this season, you can see the joy on faces as guys walk in. Individuals are spending two to three hours simply chatting. Arriving early by a couple of hours just to hang out here. It’s evident, and you realize, ‘Okay, this is a squad that genuinely enjoys each other’s company.’”
It’s difficult to construe this as anything else but a subtle attack at Poole, notably absent from the previous year’s roster.
Yet Green conveniently side-stepped the fact that the awkward chemistry in Golden State last year stemmed from Draymond himself landing a blow on Poole, his then-partner, right in the face during practice.
And to solidify the unfairness of the situation, Green was handed a $100 million deal to stay with the Warriors, while Poole was traded to the perpetually struggling Washington Wizards.
Meanwhile, Klay Thompson voiced his own viewpoint when asked about the team chemistry from last season.
“I believe each year is remarkable,” Thompson stated. “You’re playing in the NBA, taking shots, and playing defense for a living? I don’t dwell on that too much. Obviously, the chemistry is exceptional this year, but whenever I put on that Warriors jersey, I stand tall.
“It’s truly a dream come true, no matter how many seasons you’ve played. The NBA is where dreams come to life. I think the chemistry this year is wonderful, but the chemistry was still good last year. Every time I step into an NBA facility to work, I feel incredible. I don’t fixate on chemistry; in my opinion, winning solves everything.”
