The Sacramento Kings announced today that they and General Manager Monte McNair have mutually decided to go their separate ways.
“I want to extend my sincere thanks to Monte for his leadership and the substantial influence he had during his tenure in Sacramento,” said Vivek Ranadivé, owner and chairman of the Sacramento Kings. “He was instrumental in building a strong foundation for our future success, and we wish him and his family all the best in their next chapter.”
McNair stepped into the general manager position in September 2020, overseeing basketball operations. Prior to his time with the Kings, he spent 13 years with the Houston Rockets.
According to the Sacramento Bee:
On social media, McNair published a statement expressing his appreciation to Ranadive, players, coaches, staff, and fans.
“Five years ago, I received an amazing opportunity,” McNair said. “I will forever be grateful to Vivek and the entire Kings organization for their belief in me.
The Beam Team has brought immense joy to so many. I’m thankful to the players, coaches, and staff for helping create those unforgettable experiences. To the Sacramento community—thank you for embracing my family and me. We came as a family of four and now depart as a family of six. As someone who grew up in California, this truly feels like a dream fulfilled. To Kings fans—you are simply the best. I will always treasure the thunderous cheers before Game 1 and the countless incredible moments we shared. There will be many more beams shining brightly on the Kings’ future.”
