May 17: Sources from the Nuggets indicate that Aaron Gordon is set to be officially listed as questionable for Game 7, according to Tony Jones of The Athletic. The 29-year-old forward will continue his treatment leading up to the game in hopes of being prepared to play, Jones notes.
May 16: As reported by ESPN’s Shams Charania, Aaron Gordon of the Nuggets has been diagnosed with a left hamstring strain, casting doubt on his availability for Sunday’s Game 7 against the Thunder.
Gordon has been essential to the Nuggets’ playoff campaign, hitting critical shots in multiple games and demonstrating impressive, versatile defense throughout the postseason. In this series, he boasts averages of 14.5 points, 9.2 rebounds, and 3.8 assists per game while shooting 45.2% from three-point range.
With Michael Porter Jr. already contending with a shoulder issue and Jamal Murray needing an IV for rehydration prior to Game 6, the Nuggets have encountered significant health obstacles during this series. Should Gordon be unable to play, it would pose their toughest challenge yet.
Julian Strawther delivered an impressive performance in Game 6 for Denver but may be too small to adequately fulfill the forward position. Conversely, Peyton Watson has struggled to contribute offensively, although his length and athleticism have led to some notable defensive plays. If Gordon is limited, Watson may need to take on a larger role.
