Boston Celtics guard Payton Pritchard has received the prestigious John Havlicek Trophy as the 2024-25 NBA Sixth Man of the Year, highlighting his significant contributions as a reserve player.

This achievement marks Pritchard’s inaugural recognition with the Kia NBA Sixth Man of the Year award, making him the fourth Celtics player to earn this honor, joining the ranks of Kevin McHale (1983-84 and 1984-85), Bill Walton (1985-86), and Malcolm Brogdon (2022-23).

In his fifth season, the 6-foot-1 Pritchard recorded career-best averages of 14.3 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 3.5 assists over 28.4 minutes in 80 games, including three starts. He achieved a personal high shooting percentage of 47.2% from the field and a notable 40.7% from three-point range. His 1,079 points off the bench were the highest in the league.

Pritchard ranked fifth in the NBA for three-pointers made, with a record-setting 255, which stands as the second most in a single season for the Celtics franchise. He established a new NBA benchmark for three-pointers by a bench player, totaling 246, with the remaining nine coming in his starts.

Pritchard’s contributions were vital in leading the Celtics (61-21) to the third-best record in the league and securing the No. 2 playoff seed in the Eastern Conference.
