Jimmer Fredette, once the top-ranked 3×3 player in the world, has been named the inaugural managing director of the USA 3×3 Men’s National Team, as revealed today by USA Basketball.

“When I got the call from USA Basketball about 3×3, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect,” Fredette reflected. “However, I soon realized how much I enjoyed the competition, energy, and style of this game. 3×3 aligns seamlessly with my playing style and character. Throughout this journey, I’ve established lasting friendships, and I recognized an opportunity to contribute to the growth of the sport in the U.S.”

“I was excited to accept this position when USA Basketball reached out to me. My ambition is to build a sustainable program that endures for years and ultimately create a premier 3×3 program worldwide. I appreciate the USA Basketball Board of Directors for their confidence in me, and I look forward to the challenges that lie ahead.”

In his new role, Fredette will be responsible for selecting the coaching staff and players for the USA 3×3 Men’s National Team, preparing for key international competitions such as the Olympic Games in Los Angeles 2028, the FIBA 3×3 World Cup, FIBA 3×3 Champions Cup, FIBA 3×3 AmeriCup, Pan American Games, and the FIBA 3×3 pro circuit. He will also oversee participants for the program’s training camps for the next three years.

“Jimmer brought his exceptional shooting skills to 3×3 in 2022, quickly becoming a fan favorite on the halfcourt,” remarked USA Basketball CEO Jim Tooley. “His extensive knowledge of the game, outstanding abilities, leadership qualities, and reputation as one of the best shooters ever position him perfectly to be the first to take on this role and help develop the USA Basketball 3×3 men’s national team program as we approach Los Angeles.”

Named the 2023 USA Basketball 3×3 Male Athlete of the Year, Fredette has earned gold medals at the 2023 Pan American Games and the 2022 FIBA 3×3 Men’s AmeriCup, alongside a silver medal at the 2023 FIBA 3×3 Men’s World Cup. He was also part of the first USA Basketball 3×3 men’s Olympic Team, which was launched at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
