Lakers Sign Trey Jemison III and Waive Quincy Olivari

Jemison III (6’11”, 275) joins the Lakers after appearing in 16 games for the New Orleans Pelicans this season, where he averaged 2.4 points and 2.8 rebounds in 10.4 minutes per game. The 25-year-old also played 25 games during the 2023-24 season with both the Washington Wizards and Memphis Grizzlies, where he started in 14 of those contests, contributing averages of 6.8 points, 5.4 rebounds, 1.1 assists, and 1.1 blocks across 22.9 minutes on the court. Last season, he showcased his skills in the NBA G League with the Birmingham Squadron, starting all 25 of his games during the regular season and Tip-Off Tournament, averaging 10.9 points, 12.0 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 1.5 blocks in 31.6 minutes per game.

The native of Alabama went undrafted in the 2023 NBA Draft and has spent five seasons playing college basketball, first at Clemson University (2018-20) and then at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (2020-23). During his final year at UAB, he started all 39 games, posting averages of 9.1 points, 8.4 rebounds, and 1.7 blocks in 25.2 minutes per game. He concluded that season by leading Conference USA in rebounds per game and securing a spot on the conference’s all-defensive team.

Olivari was initially signed by the Lakers on August 14, 2024, before having his contract converted to a two-way deal on October 19. In two games for the Lakers this season, he averaged 1.5 points across 5.0 minutes of play. While competing for the South Bay Lakers during the regular season and Tip-Off Tournament, Olivari appeared in 13 games, averaging 17.2 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 4.4 assists over 30.0 minutes.
