Steph Curry has once again spoken about the limited time he has left in the NBA, a sentiment he expresses with a touch of melancholy.
The 36-year-old sharpshooter recently told ESPN’s Malika Andrews that he has been contemplating retirement “more than I probably have before.”
He expressed, “It’s okay to accept and acknowledge that the end is near. But only because it allows you to enjoy what’s happening right now. The more you talk about it and acknowledge it, the more it elevates the sense of urgency in the moment, now.”
Now in his 16th season, the upcoming Warriors-Lakers matchup on Christmas Day could potentially mark one of the last opportunities to see a showdown between Steph and LeBron James on this special occasion.
During the same interview, Andrews brought up James’ recent comments regarding NBA viewership trends and his thoughts on the increasing number of three-pointers being taken.
Curry responded, “I mean, everybody has their opinion. It’s not like I can go out and do a 360 windmill and drive down the lane and dunk on somebody. So for me, I’m never going to fight 3-point shots. That’s just how I see the game. It’s how I’ve perceived the game forever. But everyone has a different perspective and varying skill sets that have emerged in the league. Look at how many big players are taking charge down in the post; it’s somewhat of an extreme. The interesting part is how defenses adapt, and that adjustment process takes time, so we’ll just see how it unfolds.”
