As we enter that time of year again, speculation surrounding LeBron James and potential trades is on the rise. Let’s take a closer look at the most captivating rumors currently circulating.
Multiple sources indicate that the Lakers are not actively seeking a deal for LeBron. However, should circumstances change and he express a desire to leave, several developments might occur, as reported by C/P’s Anthony Irwin.
“Things could get fascinating if the Lakers experience any decline in their standings or if it seems that the trade market for wings would leave them lacking significant assets needed to remain a viable championship threat,” explained Irwin.
“Insiders close to the Lakers have indicated that, should James request a trade, the organization would collaborate with him to secure a deal that places him in a desirable situation while also providing a return that would initiate a rebuilding process. It’s also believed that if a trade were to happen, Bronny James would need to be included as part of the arrangement.”
Compounding the speculation, LeBron’s former teammate and current ESPN analyst Kendrick Perkins suggested that if James were to seek a trade from Los Angeles, the front office would not obstruct his wishes.
“According to my sources, if LeBron James makes it known at any time that he wants to be traded or is open to the idea, they will explore that option. There won’t be any holding him back,” Perkins remarked.
The primary contenders to acquire King James would likely be the Warriors, Mavericks, and Cavaliers, although teams such as the Oklahoma City Thunder and Knicks may also factor into the discussions.
