Following another tough outing on Friday afternoon, during which Mikal Bridges spent a significant portion of the fourth quarter on the bench as the Knicks secured a narrow victory, he reaffirmed his dedication to improving, asserting, “I’ll be better.” In the meantime, his teammates and coach stood firmly in support of the struggling guard.
“I’m not worried about [Bridges],” remarked Josh Hart. “The media and others are being overly critical of him. He’s in the process of adapting to a new environment and has participated in just 19 games in a different role than what he’s accustomed to over the past four years. It’s our duty to assist him in regaining his rhythm. All the discussions about what we gave up [five first-round picks to bring him in from the Nets] are beside the point.”
“If we prevail and secure a championship, nobody will care about how many picks we gave up. We could have sacrificed 15 picks, and it wouldn’t make a difference. In the end, our focus is on winning a championship, and he’s going to play an essential role in that.”
