The Clippers left the East Coast on Friday sporting a 2-2 record in the NBA Cup group stage, holding onto a slight chance for advancement. This development is promising for a team that has been missing two of its crucial players.

Norman Powell has yet to participate in any of the four games, extending his absence to six due to a strained left hamstring, which he re-injured during a victory over the Golden State Warriors on November 18. Although he was labeled as questionable ahead of Friday’s game, Powell remained on the sidelines during the Clippers’ closely contested 93-92 defeat to the Minnesota Timberwolves in Cup action.

Despite this, Powell is expected to make his return as the Clippers (12-9) embark on a four-game homestand, starting with a clash against the Denver Nuggets (10-7) on Sunday.

The most noteworthy, and perhaps highly anticipated, news pertains to Kawhi Leonard, who has yet to step onto the court this season due to persistent issues with his right knee. Coach Tyronn Lue offered an encouraging update regarding Leonard’s progress.
