The first matchup between Steph Curry and Klay Thompson surpassed all expectations, and both former Splash Brothers have shared their thoughts on this exciting game.
Curry made a notable contribution to Klay’s comeback, scoring 37 points to go along with 6 rebounds and 9 assists, and shooting 51.9 percent from the field, which secured the Warriors a tight 120-117 victory.
From the very first play, the energy was unmistakable, with Thompson receiving the ball on the left wing and quickly trying to post up against Curry.
“I’m surprised they ran a post-up for him on the first play,” Curry stated. “I blacked out on that one; I wasn’t going to let him score, so I fouled him. It felt like I was back in training camp, trying to get a stop.”
Thompson was undeniably in his groove throughout the match, even executing Curry’s iconic shimmy at one point during the second quarter. While Curry later responded with a move of his own, he expressed that he held no hard feelings about the moment.

“It was spontaneous, but when you’re feeling it, you respond instinctively,” Thompson explained about his shimmy. “I’ve done it before. I know Steph has pulled it off many times, so it was just a fun, lighthearted moment, and he was a bit surprised by it. It was a great shot, and I’ll likely do it again. I tend to perform my best when I’m feeling relaxed.”
In his postgame court interview, Steph was questioned about his views on Klay’s shimmy. He chuckled and responded, “He knows better than that.”
