On Monday, the Washington Wizards made the decision to activate the third-year rookie scale team option for guard/forward Bilal Coulibaly.
In his initial three games of the season, the second-year player is averaging 16.0 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per contest while boasting a shooting percentage of 50% from the field. Coulibaly recorded a personal best of 23 points against the Cleveland Cavaliers on October 26, also tying his career high with four successful three-point shots.
Originally from Courbevoie, France, Coulibaly competed for his country in the 2024 Olympic Games held in Paris, where he played in six games and contributed to the French team’s silver medal achievement.
In his rookie season, Coulibaly ranked sixth among all newcomers in total steals and blocks, and placed in the top 10 for points (ninth) and rebounds (eighth) before his season came to an early end due to injury. He was the second-youngest player to participate in games last year, averaging 8.4 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per outing, with shooting splits of 43.5% from the field and 34.6% from three-point range.
