Lakers legend Magic Johnson has entirely changed his perspective regarding Bronny James and his athletic abilities.

Just weeks ago, Magic was a guest on Jimmy Kimmel Live, where he openly shared his views on Bronny’s future in the upcoming 2024-25 season after the player was picked 55th overall in the NBA draft.

“If I’m Bronny, I would tell my Dad to just let me play in the G-League all season so I can develop,” Johnson commented during his television appearance.

However, after Bronny’s standout performance in the Lakers’ final pre-season matchup against the Warriors, Magic took to social media to express a markedly different opinion.

“Laker Nation, I must say Bronny James is going to be an outstanding basketball player! Last night, he demonstrated skills you simply can’t teach — a high basketball IQ, athleticism, and a competitive spirit that makes him an aggressive defender! I believe that after a lot of hard work this season, he will certainly be part of the Lakers’ rotation and logging significant minutes,” Johnson wrote, accompanied by a highlight reel showcasing Bronny’s plays against the Warriors.

Shortly after, he followed up with another tweet.

“Basketball fans, Bronny James is in excellent hands with the Lakers, who have a strong track record of developing talent,” Magic pointed out. “Two recent examples that I have witnessed firsthand are Alex Caruso and Austin Reaves, both of whom are starters in the league today. Bronny will be the next one.”

In the game that sparked Magic’s observations, Bronny scored 17 points, grabbed four rebounds, dished out one assist, made three steals, and blocked one shot, shooting 41 percent from the field in 35 minutes.
