The New York Knicks have formally signed free-agent center Moses Brown to an Exhibit 10 contract, as announced in a recent press statement (Twitter link).

On the verge of turning 25 this Sunday, Brown has struggled to find a long-term spot with an NBA team since his entry into the league in 2019. Nevertheless, he has participated in 150 regular season games with several franchises, including the Trail Blazers, Thunder, Mavericks, Cavaliers, Clippers, Nets, and once again the Trail Blazers. His career averages stand at 5.2 points and 5.0 rebounds over 11.9 minutes per game.

In the 2023/24 season, Brown was signed to a two-way contract with the Blazers, where he played in 22 games, averaging 3.4 points and 3.9 rebounds in 9.1 minutes per contest. Additionally, he made an impact with the Rip City Remix, the G League affiliate of Portland, amassing 15.8 points and 10.5 rebounds in six games at an average of 24.4 minutes.

Since Brown cannot be signed to a two-way contract, it appears that the Knicks are planning to release him prior to the season’s start so he can play for the Westchester Knicks in the G League. Should he spend at least 60 days with Westchester, he would be eligible for an Exhibit 10 bonus of up to $77.5K, in addition to his regular G League salary.

Before bringing Brown on board, New York’s roster was already filled to the maximum limit of 21 players, requiring a corresponding adjustment. The Knicks have announced (via Twitter) the release of Boo Buie, who had recently signed his own Exhibit 10 contract and is expected to join Westchester.
