Derrick White has spoken out about the altercation he was involved in during last week’s Colorado vs. Colorado State game.
Footage that emerged online shows White in a confrontation with fans during the college football rivalry match that took place last Saturday.
The video highlights a fan making a move at White, dislodging his hat and triggering a chaotic scuffle.
At a Celtics media day on Tuesday, White was asked about the incident and appeared to downplay its significance.
“The situation at Colorado is certainly unfortunate,” White remarked to reporters. “I never thought I’d find myself in a situation like that. I didn’t actually get hit; he just knocked my hat off. Still, I shouldn’t have been there, and I regret the occurrence. I’m just looking ahead.”
However, accounts from witnesses contradict White’s version of events, indicating that he did sustain a blow.
Many were confused about the circumstances that led to the incident, but TMZ Sports reported that it started with White having a “bit of a verbal exchange with some Rams fans.”
“In the third quarter—when it became clear that White’s Buffs were likely to secure a victory—the argument reportedly escalated into violence. As our video shows, a man donning a CSU hat and a Utah shirt swung at the side of White’s head,” the TMZ report stated.
“The impact was strong enough to knock White’s hat off, prompting a significant brawl to erupt afterward.
“Numerous people rushed in, and while White was quickly extracted from the altercation—almost a dozen others were seen engaging in pushing, shoving, and grabbing each other in headlocks for several moments.”
