The Sixers have finalized a deal with free agent guard Lester Quinones for a two-way contract, as reported by sources to Shams Charania of The Athletic (Twitter link).
Quinones, who is set to turn 24 in November, played for the Warriors last season. He began the year on a two-way deal and was promoted to the Golden State roster in February. At 6’5″, the guard appeared in 37 NBA games, averaging 4.4 points, 1.9 rebounds, and 1.0 assist across 10.6 minutes per contest, with shooting splits of .397 from the field, .364 from beyond the arc, and .690 from the charity stripe.
Although he spent more time in the NBA than the G League last season, Quinones proved to be an important asset for the Santa Cruz Warriors over the past two years, posting averages of 21.0 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 3.9 assists while shooting .448/.362/.772 in 65 Showcase Cup and regular-season games for Golden State’s G League affiliate.
In June, the Warriors opted not to extend a qualifying offer to Quinones, which enabled him to enter the unrestricted free agent market. Michael Scotto of HoopsHype remarked in early July that the Sixers had shown interest in the former Memphis Tiger.
As Philadelphia currently has no available two-way roster spot, they will need to waive one of Justin Edwards, David Jones, or Jeff Dowtin to make room for Quinones.
