DeMar DeRozan appeared to stand by Kendrick Lamar amidst the rapper’s intense feud with Drake, as seen in his recent presence on stage with Kendrick and in the music video for “Not Like Us”, which was unveiled just last week.
With past ties to Drake from his days playing for the cherished Toronto Raptors, DeRozan also shares hometown origins with Lamar in Compton.
In anticipation of the upcoming days, DeRozan tackled the subject with a touch of humor when asked about whether his cameo in the “Not Like Us” music video hinted that his new local arena in Sacramento should cease playing Drake’s tracks.
“Drake, I respect his work a lot,” DeRozan shared during an interview with FOX40 News. “His music should always have a place. Kendrick has been a dear friend, practically like family, for a significant period… We hail from the same city, essentially grew up in the same vicinity. The bond has always been strong. It might not have been in the spotlight at all times, but that kinship is essentially familial.”

Despite confirming his admiration for Drake, DeRozan’s involvement in the “Not Like Us” music video has generated considerable buzz, particularly because the track involves Lamar doubling down on allegations against Drake regarding wrongdoing and inappropriate conduct.
