Luka Doncic has admitted to seeking Kyrie Irving’s sage advice and profound perspective during games, observing that Irving’s input has been incredibly advantageous to him personally, and to the Dallas Mavericks as a group.
“When we had carved out a nine-point advantage, at the conclusion of the game, I confessed, ‘I’m fatigued’. He reassured me, saying ‘that’s the correct sensation’,” shared Doncic, who amassed 33 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists, and 5 steals, despite the pain in his twisted right knee.
“He infuses this calmness into the team, this air of mastery, and it’s just extraordinary to have him amongst our ranks.”
Irving’s guidance seems to have resonated with the Mavericks, who exhibited poise in the fourth quarter of tonight’s Game 3, seamlessly navigating crucial possessions when it mattered most.
On the flip side, the Timberwolves have shown a pronounced contrast, with their premiere athletes crumbling under pressure far too often.
Yet, Irving time and again manages to enhance his performance. In Game 3’s concluding quarter, he racked up 14 points.
“Incredible,” declared Doncic. “That’s the reason some label him Mr. Fourth Quarter, correct? Just exceptional. He’s molded for these consequential junctures. He’s born for those pivotal instances, so we persist in delivering the ball to him.”
Irving himself lauded the whole team for rising to the occasion when it counts.
“When it comes to the crunch, that’s where we prove our worth, my friend,” Irving articulated. “I think we have grasped that steadiness now, flaunting our skills out there that an array of squads need to contend with, the diversity we showcase. Many teams must guard each one of us, and it’s akin to deciding upon your toxin.”
