At the commencement of the first game at the iconic arena, Kelly Oubre Jr. stirred the pot by getting into a dispute with the eminent figures situated in the prime seats at Madison Square Garden.
Expect a heightened ambiance with increased fervor and disapproving responses from the celebrities after Oubre’s declaration, “They are giving these lavish $100,000 tickets to celebrities just for their presence, with no regard for the game. That’s how they operate.”
Although it is factual that some stars in attendance might lack NBA knowledge, there are others who are well-informed about the sport and have taken note of Oubre’s remarks.
The New York hockey team, the Rangers, opted not to provide extra complimentary passes to models Emily Ratajkowski and Irina Shayk after they left early during the Knicks’ remarkable 100-98 comeback triumph in November.
It is clear that personalities like them are apathetic towards the game.
However, Ben Stiller stands out as an exception.
The actor cleverly responded to Oubre’s comments by jesting, “Are the Knicks involved in the playoffs?”
Jerry Ferrara, the star of Entourage, was another displeased personality who posted multiple times on Twitter in reaction to Oubre’s statements.
In his initial tweet, he teased, “Oh, this guy is so off-base– haha. I interpret this as, ‘that place is going to be the most dynamic atmosphere I’ve ever seen in my career.’”
He continued, “We go to the games and are boisterous even when the team is struggling. I can’t believe so many people showed up during the rebuilding phase.”
Ferrara added, “Dear Sixers players. Please, please, please keep doing your interviews and talking trash. We all remember your successful playoff history of the last decade.”
His final comment read, “Oubre is pretending he doesn’t enjoy performing in front of renowned individuals. In my opinion, this guy knows very well that the arena will be electrifying.”
