A formal agreement has been reached between the Boston Celtics and center Neemias Queta.

Having finalized a two-way contract with the franchise on September 17, 2023, Queta has participated in 26 games for the Celtics. At a height of 7 feet, the center is achieving personal bests in his first season with Boston, with averages of 4.6 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 0.6 blocks in 11.4 minutes per game.

Queta hit a career-high of 14 points by making 4 of 7 field goals and grabbing a personal best of 12 rebounds in the Celtics’ 145-108 win against the Los Angeles Clippers on Dec. 23. Throughout this season, Queta has recorded two double-doubles, one of which was a 10-point, 10-rebound performance against the Golden State Warriors on Dec. 19.

Hailing from Lisbon, Portugal, the player has maintained averages of 14.4 points, 8.8 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 1.1 steals, and 1.9 blocks in eight games for the Celtics’ G-League affiliate, the Maine Celtics, this season. Queta’s significant contributions led Maine to reach the G-League Finals for the first time in team history, with him scoring 16 points and establishing a new G-League record with 19 rebounds in their Eastern Conference Championship victory over the Long Island Nets (99-77).

After playing at Utah State University for three seasons, Queta was selected by the Kings as the 39th pick in the 2021 NBA draft, making history as the first Portuguese player in the league.
