After the Warriors narrowly triumphed over the struggling Blazers, there was a noticeable shift in Steve Kerr’s attitude, particularly as the initial lineup once again yielded disappointing outcomes.
The team narrowly escaped defeat, chiefly due to Steph Curry’s outstanding performance and the significant contribution of rising talent Jonathan Kuminga off the bench.
The championship core of the Warriors is under scrutiny, and Kerr is unhappy with the current direction.
Speaking to the press following the Warriors’ 110-106 win over the Blazers, Kerr stated, “The elements just haven’t fallen into place this year. We have witnessed sparks of impressive individual displays, but we may need to contemplate rearranging the starting lineup from game to game depending on our opponents. Ideally, we want to establish a strong unit, but that hasn’t happened this year. We are a quarter of the way through, so there’s a great deal of strategic thinking to be done.”
Moses Moody also had a significant impact off the bench against Portland, contributing 12 points. However, a familiar storyline persisted as Klay Thompson and Andrew Wiggins had trouble finding their shooting touch, making a collective 6 of 25 shots.
“I have been patient, striving to establish a consistent rhythm with our former starting lineup,” Kerr emphasized. “It’s easier to play and coach when everyone understands their role. A clear rotation supports role players, and when the stars perform well, the pieces fit together seamlessly.”
Kerr explained that he may need to introduce more adaptability into the roster for the team to hit its stride.
