While a guest on Michael Porter Jr’s podcast, Jokic communicated that celebrity did not align with his fundamental values or preferred way of living.
“Certain individuals embrace notoriety, whereas others do not,” Jokic commented. “Upon concluding my career, I genuinely desire to remain inconspicuous. I aspire for my progeny or potential offspring to recollect me as a parent. I believe that is my life aspiration.
“It’s disheartening, when at a bar, restaurant, or a match, and people incessantly pull out their devices to capture you,” Jokic expressed. “I find it rather, I would say, rude. I am not craving attention; I am just staying true to myself.”
Jokic is so intent on distancing himself from the limelight that he has no intention to possess a phone post retirement.
“Not having a phone, that’s another significant ambition of mine,” Jokić revealed to Porter Jr. “Simply living in the present, living the life of an ordinary individual. Have a beverage with your friend, have lunch, engage with your young ones, or partake in horse riding, without making a spectacle of it.”
There had been doubts previously about whether Jokic genuinely shuns the NBA scene as much as he appears to.
However, his recent declarations leave little doubt that he truly has no desire for the so-called perks of fame.
The man just wants to spend time with his close ones and participate in horse racing. Therefore, do not expect any public appearances from him once he ultimately decides to retire.
