Despite the ongoing James Harden drama in Philadelphia, Joel Embiid reportedly intends to stick with the franchise. According to ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne, Embiid has given assurances to the team that he is willing to navigate through the current situation involving Harden. However, it remains to be seen how long he will wait for a resolution.
In addition, Shelburne believes that young star Tyrese Maxey is in a similar mindset, patiently waiting for a contract extension while the team manages salary cap flexibility to improve in the future.
Both players have maintained personal relationships with Harden, with sources revealing that Embiid even invited him to his wedding in July.
Zach Lowe, another NBA insider, echoes Shelburne’s sentiments. Despite the strained relationship between Harden and the front office staff, his bond with his teammates, especially Embiid, reportedly remains intact.
Harden had previously requested a trade away from Philadelphia, prompting the team to encourage him to opt-in so they could work on a potential trade.
