Over the weekend, Los Angeles Clippers’ forward Kawhi Leonard successfully completed his first consecutive set of matches since April 2021, logging a total of 59 minutes without any setbacks. In a Twitter post by Andrew Greif of the Los Angeles Times, Leonard mentioned, “How I feel (Sunday) will determine my next steps, but currently, I am in good shape.”
In contrast, Eric Gordon was sidelined for the Clippers’ game due to a hip ailment. However, the Clippers are not overly concerned about it as their next game is not until Wednesday, affording Gordon ample time for recuperation. As they approached Sunday, the Clippers held a precarious position in the sixth slot in the Western Conference, ensuring them a playoff berth, with an imminent crucial match against the Lakers. “This game holds immense importance for us,” expressed coach Tyronn Lue, according to reports from Law Murray of The Athletic and other journalists.
Conversely, the Lakers had secured victories in five of their last six matches leading up to their confrontation against the Houston Rockets over the weekend. Anthony Davis showcased impressive performances with consecutive 38-point games in their preceding encounters, notwithstanding a concerning ankle injury that was later deemed minor. Davis is optimistic about the Lakers’ revamped composition, indicating they are ready for a substantial playoffs push. As conveyed by ESPN’s Dave McMenamin, Davis stated, “We have the potential to make an impactful run. Our team is well-equipped from top to bottom.”
