Los Angeles luminary Anthony Davis is slated to return from a foot ailment this Wednesday, as per insights from Dave McMenamin of ESPN.
Per McMenamin, Davis plans to gear up against the Spurs in Los Angeles, provided he encounters no setbacks during his pregame warmups.
Davis has been out of action since December 16 due to a bone spur and stress reaction in his right foot. Despite losing one of their top players, the Lakers have managed to maintain a decent record, going 10-10 in their last 20 games and staying competitive in the playoff chase.
Currently standing at 22-26, the Lakers rank 13th in the Western Conference, lagging just three games behind the fifth-placed Clippers.
As McMenamin details, Davis is expected to be on a minutes restriction of approximately 20-to-24 on Wednesday. With the Lakers’ next game scheduled for Saturday in Boston, the team will have a brief hiatus to monitor how Davis’s foot reacts to his return.
Alongside Davis, the Lakers will bolster their front line with the debut of newly acquired forward Rui Hachimura when they face the Spurs, as announced by head coach Darvin Ham to McMenamin and other reporters.
Given Davis’s recent recovery and Hachimura’s adjustment to a new environment, the Lakers’ lineup on Wednesday will require fine-tuning. Though initial plans suggest Hachimura will start in the frontcourt alongside Davis and LeBron James, immediate changes may occur.
