Will Brooklyn Nets standout forward Kevin Durant decide to once more request a transfer from a Brooklyn squad that appears distant from championship contention ahead of the deadline on February 9? Eric Pincus from Bleacher Report examines some potential trade destinations for the 12-time All-Star if he renews his trade request made during the off-season.
Pincus mentions that the Raptors possess numerous enticing assets but does not expect them to part with second-year standout Scottie Barnes. Instead, he proposes a potential offer centered around forward OG Anunoby and future draft picks. Other trade scenarios suggested by Pincus include a Suns package led by forward Mikal Bridges and draft selections, a Grizzlies proposal featuring either promising young player Desmond Bane or Jaren Jackson Jr. alongside draft picks, a Pelicans exchange involving Brandon Ingram, a Knicks deal with RJ Barrett, and trades with the Warriors, Celtics, and Lakers.
More news from New York:
- In an interview with Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports, Nets backup forward Joe Harris talked about his efforts to stay on the court for the 2021/22 season and his availability this season. “I believed I could make a comeback [last year], but in reality, my ankle was not in good shape,” Harris shared. “I exhausted every possible option to get back on the court.”
- Young guard Quentin Grimes from the Knicks has been benched in consecutive games on Tuesday and Wednesday. Nevertheless, head coach Tom Thibodeau is not contemplating sending Grimes to the team’s NBAGL affiliate in Westchester for gameplay exposure despite his absence from the current rotation, according to Zach Braziller from The New York Post. “I believe having him with us is the optimal choice for now,” commented Thibodeau. Grimes expressed his trust in his coach, stating: “I understand he’s doing what he feels is best for the team so we can win games.”
- Knicks shooting guard Evan Fournier has transitioned from a starting position earlier in the 2022/23 season to now being out of the team’s rotation. “It’s a challenging situation,” Fournier remarked to Zach Braziller from The New York Post. Fournier, aged 30, is earning $18MM this season. “I always try to see things from others’ perspectives. [Thibodeau] is seeking a solution… I don’t think his decision was personal; he just wants to win. He does what he believes is best. I can debate whether that’s a good approach or not, definitely.” Fournier is averaging merely 6.9 PPG with a meager 34.4% shooting accuracy this season.
