The Brooklyn Nets are the team with the most enigma as they enter the upcoming season. The talent is present, yet uncertainties prevail.

Will they be able to make up for Ben Simmons’ incapacity to score from beyond the arc and the charity stripe? Can Kyrie Irving maintain his fitness? Can they surpass their lack of height? Will Simmons be effective as a center?

The Nets face skepticism, but Irving has reassured Simmons publicly that everything will be alright.

“Whenever someone returns, it will require some adjustment time,” Irving advised the press following Simmons’ debut in the preseason. “Our duty as his teammates is to simplify the game for him. I was conversing with him during halftime that playing alongside such talented players, contrary to what you may have heard, the game will be straightforward for you.

“He will enjoy playing alongside us. He will relish running the court with us. For him to be on the court for his initial day and to have that experience with us, it’s something we can cherish throughout the season as a hurdle we overcame. Since the very beginning, highly awaited and pleased it turned out well for him tonight with some effortless baskets. He executed some commendable plays, but of course, he has a ways to traverse before feeling like his genuine self.”

In the Nets’ preseason premiere against the Philadelphia 76ers on Monday, Simmons displayed glimpses of promise.

He ended with 6 points, 4 rebounds, and 5 assists in 19 minutes, yet faced ridicule for missing both of his free throws and badly mismanaging a turnaround shot.

It’s evident that Simmons will need to exhibit much more to silence his skeptics. Nonetheless, for now, he possesses Irving’s support.
