The foundational trio of New Orleans, comprising McCollum, Brandon Ingram, and Zion Williamson, are all locked in for the subsequent three seasons, instilling optimism among Pels supporters.
McCollum transitioned to New Orleans in the preceding season as part of an exchange that involved Josh Hart, Thomas Satoransky, and Nickeil Alexander-Walker moving to Portland in return for McCollum, Larry Nance Jr., and Tony Snell.
Post the transfer to New Orleans, McCollum posted averages of 24.3 points, 4.5 rebounds, 5.8 assists, 1.3 steals, and 2.7 three-pointers per game.
Concluding the season with a 36-46 record, New Orleans managed victories over the Spurs and Clippers in the play-in tournament, despite the absence of Williamson from the roster.
Their playoff journey was halted in the initial round by the Phoenix Suns, the reigning Western Conference champions, in a 4-2 series outcome.
