At the outset of the 2021-22 season, Nikola Jokic immediately signaled his approach towards the relentless MVP discussions aimed his way.
In a casual stance against a wall within the confines of Ball Arena before Denver’s season premiere in Phoenix, Jokic casually dismissed any interest in his standing as the incumbent MVP. Despite his indifference to the accolade, Jokic returned this season in an even more commanding form, effortlessly outmaneuvering opponents and dissecting defenses akin to Peyton Manning, the esteemed quarterback who frequents Nuggets’ games.
Jokic is poised to clinch the league MVP honor for the second consecutive season, as confirmed by a league insider on Monday, solidifying his position as only the fifth center to achieve back-to-back victories and the 13th player in NBA history to secure the award in successive seasons.
The news of Jokic’s MVP triumph reached him on Monday, as per the insider, with an official announcement expected later this week.
