Update as of 8:44pm: Milwaukee has officially stated (via Twitter) that Bembry will be out for the remainder of the season because of a torn right ACL and MCL. A considerable injury such as this is expected to keep him out for a significant portion of the 2022/23 season as well.
Official Information at 12:30pm: Milwaukee player DeAndre’ Bembry might not return for the current season after sustaining a knee injury in the recent match where Milwaukee lost to the Warriors 122-109, as reported by Adrian Wojnarowski from ESPN.
Sources close to Wojnarowski have expressed worries regarding the seriousness of the injury. In a recent tweet, Woj stated that Bembry will be undergoing MRI scans on his knee today, and it is foreseen that the injury is quite severe.
To free up a roster spot in a trade that brought Ben Simmons, Seth Curry, Andre Drummond, and two future first-round draft picks to Brooklyn, the Nets released Bembry last month. Following this, Bembry signed a contract with the Bucks for the remainder of the season.
In the eight games he played with Milwaukee, Bembry has an average of 9.6 MPG but has not been a significant scorer. Standing at 6’5″, the veteran player has more rebounds (1.4 RPG) than points (0.8 PPG) for the reigning champions, offering energy and defensive flexibility off the bench.
The 27-year-old was chosen as the No. 21 pick from Saint Joseph’s by the Hawks in the 2016 NBA draft. He spent four years with Atlanta before moving to the Raptors for the 2020/21 season. Throughout his career, he holds averages of 5.9 PPG, 3.2 RPG, 1.8 SPG, and 1.0 SPG over 296 matches.
