The Monarchs are actively seeking a trade proposal featuring Buddy Hield and Marvin Bagley III with the aim of securing a skilled player, but they are currently not pursuing Pacers’ frontcourt stalwarts Domantas Sabonis and Myles Turner, according to information provided by Jason Anderson of the Sacramento Bee.
There has been no recent communication between the Monarchs and the Pacers regarding Sabonis or Turner following last week’s speculation that Indiana was open to negotiating the futures of their prominent big men, along with guard Caris LeVert. The Monarchs had previously shown interest in Sabonis.
It is somewhat intriguing that the Monarchs are not focusing on these frontcourt players given their guard-heavy lineup. Sabonis, a two-time All-Star and the recent recipient of the Eastern Conference Player of the Week award, is noted by Anderson as a 31% shooter from beyond the arc and is not regarded as a particularly stout defender. Turner, known for his shot-blocking prowess, could provide floor spacing with his long-range shooting ability.
Monarchs General Manager Monte McNair has his sights set on a significant transaction, with the potential inclusion of Sixers’ Ben Simmons. The Monarchs are among the teams reportedly interested in the disgruntled Philadelphia star who has been absent from game action this season.
Hield is currently posting averages of 15.7 PPG, 4.2 RPG, and 2.1 APG, while Bagley, who will enter free agency (either restricted or unrestricted) next offseason, started the year on the bench but has been reintegrated into the lineup over the past month. The former second overall pick in the 2018 draft is averaging 7.8 PPG and 6.3 RPG.
