LeBron James, a standout player for the Lakers, emphasizes the need for urgency before each match. This sentiment remains unwavering even as the team’s performance dipped below par with an 8-9 record, as reported by Dave McMenamin from ESPN.com.
Upon his return from an abdominal injury, James played against the Celtics on Friday and managed to secure 23 points, six rebounds, and two steals in a span of 32 minutes. Unfortunately, the Los Angeles team suffered a significant loss to Boston with a score of 130-108 — marking their third consecutive defeat and sixth in the previous ten games.
“The remaining 65 games hold no significance,” James expressed to McMenamin when questioned about his approach to the ongoing season. “We certainly need to elevate our performance, irrespective of the lineup. It’s crucial for us to refine our system swiftly and enhance our gameplay to a level of excellence, regardless of the players on the court.”
“We’re not in a state of panic, but there must be a call for urgency each time we step onto the court.”
The Lakers have encountered various injury setbacks at the commencement of this season. Other than James, anticipated starting forward Trevor Ariza underwent ankle surgery in October, and backup point guard Kendrick Nunn has been sidelined due to a bone bruise. James has participated in only seven out of the 17 matches played so far.
The current standing of Los Angeles places them in the ninth position in the Western Conference. They are set to face the Pistons on Sunday, followed by matches against the Knicks on Tuesday and the Pacers on Wednesday.
