Yesterday, Marcel Hirscher showcased his exceptional slalom skills once again, leaving a lasting impression on spectators. Earning a decisive victory, Hirscher asserted his prowess before the upcoming world championships. Despite facing tough competition in recent races, Marcel Hirscher, the accomplished Austrian skier, emerged victorious with remarkable speed in both runs of the night event, amidst the enthusiastic cheers of over 40,000 supporters.
Taking a commanding lead of nearly a second at the start of the race, Hirscher further extended his advantage by two-tenths in the final stretch. His final gap of 1.21 seconds over Alexis Pinturault from France secured his victory in the world cup event. Daniel Yule from Switzerland claimed the third spot, trailing by 1.60 seconds, while the remaining competitors lagged behind by at least 2.25 seconds.
Following his impressive 10th win of the season and 68th career triumph, Hirscher expressed satisfaction with his performance, stating that his execution in the initial run fulfilled the expectations of his fans. Clement Noel of France, who had previously bested Hirscher in two slaloms in Kitzbuehel and Wengen, encountered difficulties early in the run and was unable to finish the race.
Henrik Kristoffersen of Norway, positioned third in the slalom standings behind Hirscher and Noel, skied out during the final run, missing out on valuable points. While Hirscher has clinched victory in 12 out of the last 16 world cups, it is noteworthy that he did not secure the fastest first-run time in the past five races.
