Justin Herbert of Oregon Alters NFL Draft Prospects by Electing to Stay for Senior Year

Despite being potentially the first quarterback chosen in the 2019 NFL draft, Justin Herbert of Oregon surprised many by announcing on Wednesday his decision to return for one more season.

Expressing his deep gratitude towards the University of Oregon and everyone involved in the program, Herbert stated, “This university holds a special place in my heart from my earliest memories. I am more committed than ever to my teammates, coaches, loyal fans, and the institution itself. Hence, I have chosen to continue my journey at the University of Oregon for my senior year. Let’s go Ducks!”

At 6’5”, Herbert was previously ranked as the top prospect at his position by Sports Illustrated and was highly esteemed nationwide. His choice to stay in college will significantly impact the upcoming draft, making the selection of quality quarterbacks even more limited for NFL teams on the lookout.
