Former Volkswagen CEO Martin Winterkorn leaves Bayern Munich's supervisory board

In the recent development, it is seen that former Volkswagen CEO Martin Winterkorn has now left the German Soccer champion club Bayern Munich’s supervisory board.   Earlier he has resigned from the automaker due to the diesel emissions scandal. On Tuesday, in a statement from the club, it said that the 71-year-old Winterkorn had left the board on Monday. It has been said that he is on the board for about 16 years as a member.

The club has said that Winterkorn, who is the former CEO of Volkswagen unit Audi, has earlier initiated Audi’s partnership with Bayern. Then he got involved when it is gone for acquisition during the year 2010. It has been said that this thing is at about 8.33 per cent stake in the club. According to the president of Bayern and supervisory board chairman ULI Hoeness said that Winterkorn had got huge importance for FC Bayern’s development.

This importance that he has got is in place for the last 16 years. In the year 2015, it has been said that Winterkorn has resigned as VW CEO as Volkswagen has caught him using the illegal software to cheat on US Diesel emissions tests. On Monday, AGM, Hoeness was said to confirm it as Bayern’s supervisory board chairman for next four-year term.

This is with the former Adidas CEO Herbert Hainer who is the first deputy chairman, and VW chairman Herbert Diess was appointed as the deputy chairman. In a statement by the chairman of Bayern, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said that they are happy to have another high-calibre supervisory board. In the recent development, it has been announced that Bayern has recorded a turnover of about 657.4 million euros for the current financial year 2017-18 season. It has been a good year for Bayern.
