On an opening day, Sergio Garcia has got his three holes from the last four holes and got a faultless opening round of 64. Now he has got a four-shot lead in the European Tour’s Nedbank Golf Challenge in Sun City. On Thursday, the Spaniard who was a two-time winner of the event have registered about eight birdies in the bogey-free round at Gary Player Country Club.
It has been said that South Africa’s Charl Schwartzel is one of the three players who are four under, the others who are with him are Frenchman Mike Lorenzo-Vera and Finn Mikko Korhonen. There is too a group of six which is at three under in which it includes Louis Oosthuizen who is Schwartzel compatriot.
The others who are lying five shots back at the tournament are Englishmen Andy Sullivan and Matt Wallace, France’s Benjamin Hebert, China’s Wu Ashun and Australia’s Jason Scrivener. During the last month, Garcia has won at the Andalucia Valderrama Masters. It carded eight birdies as he is eyeing to win it for the third time.
Previously, he has won this title during the year 2001 and 2003. The score that he has got said to be Spaniard’s lowest opening round score of the current season which is by two shots. This too has matched the biggest first-round lead on tour during the current year. As per Garcia, he said in a statement that it is great to achieve this and the ball is also getting rolled nicely.
He added by saying that he has made some good putts and this round is one of the best rounds that has happened nicely to him. He added by saying that the guessing of winds here is very difficult and he is happy that he guessed it right, as a result, he can shoot with perfection.
