Branden Grace handed over the crystal trophy back to Nedbank Golf Challenge to host Gary Player. This was done on Tuesday in a televised ceremony. He said that he is super excited to get back to the Sun City and now he is hoping that he may become South Africa’s first back to back champion of the Nedbank Golf Challenge.
Till now, South African golfers have won 14 out of 37 editions of this Africa’s Major. During the last year, the victory that Grace has got by one stroke from Scott Jamieson of Scotland in which he carded a final round 6 under 66. This was said to be first by the local player since Trevor Immelman in the year 2007.
When it comes to the South Africa dominancy, it is said that Grace will be the good choice who can lead the 12 South Africans to keep the trophy in their home soil at the Gary Player Country Club. Grace in a statement said that he is now super excited to get back to Sun City. This week is surely a tough week as you need to defend the trophy which is not at all easy. But defending of the trophy is not new for him so he hopes that he can repeat that in this year tournament too.
As per reports, till now Grace has owned eight times on the PGA European Tour and only once in PGA Tour US. He added by saying that he felt great when he had won Africa’s Major in the year 2017. To win South Africa’s biggest event is very special. This tournament is one that he watches since a child and to win this tournament is a very special feeling. It feels great to see your name in trophy with some legends of this game.
